Dr James Crowley

BVSc (Hons) GradDipEd FANZCVS DipECVS
Registered Specialist in Small Animal Surgery

James graduated from the University of Sydney in 2012 and has since worked in small animal clinical practice and preclinical research, with a strong focus on surgery. After four years in general practice, he completed a rotating internship at the University of Sydney (2017), a specialist surgical internship at Murdoch University (2019), and a three-year small animal surgery residency at the Small Animal Specialist Hospital (2022–2024). In 2025, James successfully passed both the European College of Veterinary Surgeons (ECVS) and Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Surgeons (ANZCVS) specialist examinations.

Since 2018, James has also held the role of surgeon and research fellow at the Surgical and Orthopaedic Research Laboratories (SORL) at UNSW Sydney. He is currently completing a PhD focused on intervertebral disc disease (IVDD). He has published extensively in both veterinary and human peer-reviewed journals and has presented at national and international conferences. James is passionate about contributing to clinical research and is particularly interested in neurosurgery, fracture biomechanics, and minimally invasive surgical techniques.

Outside of work, James enjoys staying active and is an avid fan of all sports, particularly cricket, golf, and surfing. James, his wife Lisa, and their young family recently relocated from Sydney’s Northern Beaches to the Sunshine Coast in 2025. They are excited to join the QVS family and become part of the local community.
