Monique graduated from the University of Queensland in 2006 and returned home to Central Queensland after graduation to work in equine and mixed practice where she developed her passion in small animal emergency medicine. She then completed a residency in Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care at the University of Melbourne, with concurrent Masters of Veterinary Medicine and Veterinary Clinical Studies, in 2016.

Monique worked in private referral practice in Brisbane before returning to Queensland Veterinary Specialists in 2020.

Monique loves all aspects of critical care medicine including mechanical ventilation, disorders of coagulation, and transfusion medicine. Her main passion of toxicology led to her completing a Research Masters on the Viscoelastic Changes in Tiger Snake Envenomated dogs and publishing a case report on Barium Toxicity after Sparkler Ingestion in a dog during her residency training.

Monique is a passionate baker and is known to whip up delights such as Portuguese custard tarts and triple choc chip cookies in her spare time. She also loves exploring Brisbane, while trying new coffee and brunch locations with her husband and their Cavoodle, Bacon.
