Specialist Reproduction Services

Animal reproduction is also called Theriogenology. Reproduction or Theriogenology is the management of health and diseases of the reproductive system of animals, including artificial breeding.


Established in 1990, the QVS Reproduction group is the only Specialist Animal Reproduction group in Australia working in a 24 hour referral veterinary practice. Our reproduction service in Brisbane now includes four veterinarians who work exclusively in reproduction.


Our reproduction specialists provide veterinary advice and care for promoting fertility, all forms of artificial breeding, and for the management of diseases of male and female reproduction in small animals.


In addition, we provide formal Continuing Education, and a complimentary advice and support service in reproduction for general and emergency veterinary practitioners, and for specialists in other disciplines.

Why might my pet see the reproduction team?
The QVS reproduction group would see your pet for either the promotion of normal reproduction or for the resolution of a disease of the reproduction system, in male or female small animals.

When is the reproduction team available?
It is the nature of animal reproduction that the patients dictate when the work needs to be done. Therefore, we see patients every day as needed.

Non-urgent out-patient appointments are made 05:30am to 12:00 noon Monday to Friday. Procedures are performed at times dictated by the requirements and needs of our patients.

The reproduction service is available 24/7, including weekends and Public Holidays, for the management of emergencies of reproduction, including but not limited to obstetrics and acute disease presentations of the reproduction system.

Please note that the reproduction service currently operates out of the Queensland Veterinary Specialists Stafford facility.
